Unreal Engine | Wonder Dynamics | iClone
II'm always experimenting with ways to make my real-time animation workflow more efficient. I've been wanting to do a proper Wonder Dynamics test where the mocap data could be imported into iClone and then used to animate a Metahuman.
No mocap suit. Just performing in front of the camera. Wonder Dynamics did a very good job pulling a mocap performance from that single video. And it will only get better. Importing the mocap FBX into iClone was pretty simple. I used the Metahuman dummy to send the data to UE using Take Recorder.
Facial animation used Metahuman Animator. It does a great job with human expressions but I haven't found a simple way to import an audio file for auto-lip-sync. So, I recorded the audio first and lip-synced to the track. I used a projector to project a teleprompter against the wall. It takes a little juggling but it worked out okay. I can improve the process.
